I just got home from my local GC with good news. I had stopped by to check price and availability of the new Roland GR-20 which will work with a bass. Adam said he hadn't heard anything new about my Bongo, but he'd go ahead and call EB to see what the wait time looked like.

As I was checking out Levy's leather straps trying to decide what to get for the Bongo, Adam waved me over with a wide-eyed look on his face. I scrambled over to him, and he told me that not only was it done, but it had shipped last Thursday! He was waiting for the tracking number so we could go and see where it was.

We went into the office and typed in the tracking number--it was scanned in at the airport this afternoon at 1:17pm with a scheduled delivery date of 7/29/04!!! :D :D :D

So, needless to say, I'll be stopping by GC on the way home from work tomorrow, too. Luckily, it's only 3 miles from where I work.

As a sign of cosmic serendipity, I got home to find a new 5 string set of Infeld Superalloy strings for the fretless Bongo waiting on the table.

Heh--If you don't know the color by now, you'll have to wait until tomorrow for pics! ;)

Is your bass coming from Bass Central? Feel free to clutter my thread with your in-transit Bongo glee, too.

I usually buy from Bass Central, but I won this as new Bongo on the Bay. Lava Pearl, white ice, 4 string. $835 including shipping. Not bad for a Bongo in brand new condition.

I'd say that was slightly better than "not bad."

Looks like the Georgia Bongo Guard ranks have recently grown by two...*

Except the PG is diff and the price is about $300 more. And the n00bs at GC probably snorted all the silica packs.

I apologize for the blurriness. ... But yowsa! That Bongo kicked butt.

Oh Man that's the fretless, right? Congrats! :D
From order date to today, how long exactly did it take?
Can't wait to hear your report on the sound and see pics! :D

Yep, it's the fretless.

I ordered it at the end of March, so it's right around 4 months--not too bad.

I'll definitely get some pics up tonight, and perhaps even a sound clip, or two.

Have you seen a desert gold sterling?

It does put sort of a "if only colours altered the tone" type of idea in my mind, imagine the possibilities!
