Gonna get another Stingray 4-String and I have it narrowed down to Burnt Apple with a shell pickguard or Blue Dawn with a Black pickguard. I've seen close-ups of the Burnt Apple, but is the Blue Dawn also sort of a metallic sparkle? Can't find a close-up of that finish....If it is I'm kinda leaning toward the Blue Dawn. Rosewood fingerboard....Sweeeet!

The Blue Dawn has that same subtle sparkle finish that is similar to the Burnt Apple, it looks great!

I have two stingrays:

2001 white w/matching headstock, white pearloid pickguard, rosewood board

2002 white w/matching headstock, white pearloid pickguard, pau ferro fretless lined board

I recently got the second one. You might as well order em. For that much cash, i don't want one that has been sitting on display in a store touch by who knows how many people, etc. You can custom order stingrays from guitar center for no extra charge (heck, mine actually cost less than some of the models they had in the store). That way you can get EXACTLY what you want. They said it would take four months to get it after placing the order, but i ordered mine in mid march and got it june 7th, so that is a little under three months. If you are closer to CA (i am in IL), i imagine it would take a little shorter than that due to shippin.

You sound just like me. When I buy someting new in a store, it always comes in a box, and no customers have touched it. I feel the same about instruments. Especially expensive ones. If I'm going to pay the "new" price, I expect to get a new item in a box, not one that has been abused by countless "tryers" in music stores.
