I've had my Axis for well over a year now. I moved in the last month and as a result was not able to play my guitars for about two weeks, which is by far the longest I've gone without picking up the Axis.
I found upon picking up the guitar after it had been in its case for that time, that the strings were buzzing horribly, and were "fretting out" at the 2nd fret. I quick adjustment to the truss rod corrected this situation, but I noticed for the first time that it appears when the guitar is put into its case, and the case is shut, that the T-bar is depressed slightly by the case lid. Now, when I purchased the guitar, it arrived from the store with the bar installed, and I've never thought anything of it.
Is it possible that if the guitar is kept in its case, with the bar attached and rotated in its "playing" position (again, the way it was delivered) that the resulting pressure on the bar, and thus a slackening of the strings, could cause the neck to shift its relief???
Is this bad, and if so, should the bar be removed prior to storing the guitar in its case for more than a couple of days without use? None of my other instruments are equipped with a Floyd Rose-type unit, and therefore I have no experience with them. If the bar should be removed, how does one do this? I've looked at it, and it isn't apparent to me how this is done.
Any help would be appreciated, as I don't want to do anything that might damage an otherwise perfect guitar.
Thanks.
