    A New Frontier

Hey, this Bullog thing really works-how cool ! In case you've been wondering what's up with me, I'm attacking a nasty little tumor in my throat that I was diagnosed with in January. Not to worry, it's a very treatable thing, but the treatments themselves are a bit nasty; basically, they poison me to kill the cancer, then bring me back to health (actually I guess that last part is on me). I needed to lose some weight anyway ! One of the toughest things is seeing the people in the hospital who are really ill and depressed. It's then that you can really see the effect of a kind word or a smile; it actually has a physical value. Also, the health care providers can use a little cheering up too-they just see sick people all day (that's gotta be tough). Anyhoo, I'll keep you guys posted on my condition; now the worse of it is that I've lost my sense of taste, so even bean burritos aren't appealing ! They say that will return though-can't wait ! Talk to ya later-Hiram OUT.

and the only way i heard was over at TB when someone noticed on Will Lee's site that he had put up a note on Hiram's passing.

I noticed this when I visited Marcus Miller's site yesterday. Very sad, indeed.

    Rest In Peace, Hiram.

I think it was Steely Dan's Gaucho album that first turned me on to Hiram. He certainly had a distinctive style.

    Rest in peace, Hiram.

That sucks. I saw him play about two years ago and was blown away. That is too sad.
