Simply put, if someone breaks into your home they are not doing so because they want to give you a hug, they are there to do one of two things - either cause harm to you and your family, or steal/destroy your property. CT is very much a liberal state that tries to protects criminals from innocent people as much as possible (yes I worded that correctly), but after the Cheshire home invasion in July 2007 views about CT castle doctrine changed and the .gov now says "shoot to kill, no warning necessary" if someone breaks into your house - previously it was "run and hide/barricade in a room, call police, give perps anything they want" While I certainly would try and hide the kids in another room if I had them, I won't willingly become a victim. The castle doctrine may seem a bit crazy, but it seems to work in Texas!
