When I got my first Ernie Ball Music Man Guitar (my amazing Metallic Maroon Silhouette) the only thing I knew abou them was what I had read in a guitar magazine about eight years ago about Eddie Van Halen and Steve Lukather and some kind of guitar they were making with Ernie Ball. I then vaguely remember seing something about Steve Morse. But the guy who has influenced me the most in my loyalty to Ernie Ball products has to be Tony Levin.

There is probably no one in music that I admire more, or that inspires me more, than Tony Levin. Even though I am not a bass player, Tony has been a huge influence on me. I find that any time I would listen to a song and be totally blown away by the bass playing, if I looked, nine times out of ten it was Tony.

I have had a great experience with my Silhouette, and wouldn't trade if for any other guitar out there. But the thing that keeps me even more into Ernie Ball products, is that I feel like if a guy like Tony uses them, they must be great. I have so much respect for him as a musician and an expert in his field, that I trust his judgement when it comes to gear. I have since felt the same about Morse, Lukather, Lee and Petrucci also.

So thank you Tony, for being the man! Or something like that....

I can understand how you feel. I litterally BUMPED INTO Tony Levin about a year ago at a S(C)am (C)Ash store in Chicago. I didn't know he was going to be there- hadn't seen any ads to that effect, etc. Anyway, he was signing copies of his book.
I've always been a fan, so of course I bought one. I needed change, so he gave me a five dollar bill out of his own pocket. I just thought that was kind of cool. It kind of made him seem more like a regular guy- not that he NEEDED it- He was VERY down to earth, so much that he made me feel like I was talking to a friend or something. VERY Cool No 'rock star' attitude whatsoever.
Great musician, and a great guy, too.

Yeah, the guys top notch. He answers all his email and is cool to talk to after the show. People probably leave thinking that they are friends of Tony's, which is cool!

If you got to his website, the aptly named TonyLevin.com (caps not needed) you can email Papa Bear records, which is his email. He has always answered my emails to him as well. Truley a great fellow and amazing artist...

Yes he is! But... he didn't replied to me. Well he must be tired of "what equipement are you using" question :-) But I really need to know what is he using. compresor, octaver, etc Do you have any ideea?

Flea put Stingrays on the map for me--and yeah, I know he's not with the company any more. Still, that made me aware of the bass. After that it was just playing a SUB that convinced me to buy.

Robochimp, u like SamAsh? I live in a suburb, about 30 minutes from chicago. Its a great store, the only place I go for my guitar.

On topic, I was looking at the MXTabs forum and saw lots of people used EBs. SO i bought some.

then EBMM sold me some gear ...

Even though I'm a huge Van Halen fan, I saw the guitar, really liked the shape and the looks, then when I played it, I fell in love. Nobody really inspired me to buy it, the guitar itself inspired me to buy it.....

Well around the time the EVH and Luke came out, me and a mate went out ond tried them, l first tried the EVH and was a nice guitar, but l feel in love with the Luke, it was more suited to me, l love the sound of the EMGs, and the neck is fantastic. Even though l'm a HUGE Steve Lukather fan, it was more the Luke guitar that got me to play EBMM guitars than the signiture on the headstock, but then again reading about these guitars in interviews with EVH and Steve Lukather got me interested in trying out these guitars.
