When I interviewed John Petrucci he said that Steve Morse was one of his biggest influence and said that 'the bash' is the inspiration behind honing in on his killer alternate picking teqhnique.

I was very familiar with Morse's solo stuff like Major Impacts I + II, Prime Cuts etc

    Also Deep Purple

The Dixie Dregs are so far out,

I love Violin with guitar, works so well!

Thanks for these tracks guys I will load them into the playlist for my show.

"Night Meets Light" is one of my favorite Dregs tunes. One of the greatest bands of all time!

    hi folks,

it's been awhile since I dropped in....

I saw the subject header and just couldn't resist. Of course, Tommy in Delaware (hi Tommy!) is very knowledgeable and btw does a pretty decent impression of Steve on guitar....

however, I digress. My favorite studio CD from the Dixie dregs is Unsung Heroes; but hell, I say get 'em all.

Favorite songs off the top of my head:

    What If
    Odyssey
    Gina Lola Breakdown
    Bloodsucking Leeches
    Vitamin Q
    Up in the Air
Cruise Control (either live version or the studio version from Unsung Heroes)
    Rock n Roll Park
    Go for Baroque
    Attila the Hun

If I had to pick only one, it would be Assembly Line; hands down.....

But as for other stuff Steve has played on, one of my alltime faves is the main solo from "La Villa Strangiato" from the version he played on...

Thanks to my buddy Keith Baim who bought me a CD at the Steve Morse/ Dregs show last January (in San Juan Capistrano) I can now say that my favourite Dregs track is

    Ionized!

The one I have heard the most though is Take It Off The Top - it was the theme tune to "The Friday Rock Show" in the UK for many years when I was growing up (and before I knew who Steve was).

    My personal favorites:

    Ice Cakes
    Night Meets Light
    Pride of the Farm
    Cruise Control
    Assembly Line
(forget name) the polyrythmic (6:4) tune from the last album with the Eric Johnson-type ostinato motive with a Celtic feel
