    maximum string gauge for compensated nut

    Hello I am wondering what the maximum string gauge is that will fit into the Stingray 4's compensated nut. (stock, unmodified)

    I am using 100, 80, 65, 45. this isn't quite heavy enough for drop C

    please no get a 5 string comments, thank you.

    well it can definatly do 105 as thats what they ship with and most likely 110 would fit

    thought they shipped with super slinkys.

    I've fitted my Bongo with power slinkys in the past and had no issue. (E string being a 110).

    But if you wanted to string a 4 string bass with BEAD strings, those would be too thick, correct?

    Good point, not likely. But a "e" fits nicely behind a "th".

    I bought the power slinky's, we will see what happens. however you will have to wait for results because I am waiting till Saturday so I can take it to my Luthier to have him set it up for me.

    Power Slinkys will work fine with the compensated nut.

    So I called my luthier and he told me that I'm going to need to adjust the nut so I don't break it. I'm very apprehensive about making this big of a change to my instrument. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas on how to get around this?

    How much does a new nut cost? If it is not too expensive, can it be easily replaced? If so, it is worth trying...

    try some regular slinkys or don't worry about it.
