    Sterling Love?

Yes...we love BP...I mean the Other Sterling. The Music Man Sterling.

    Coming late to the party I guess, but I have a Ray4 HH, Ray5 HH, Bongo Hs...started with a Ray5 in 92.

I was in GC today an pulled down the Sterling 4.

My Garsh...what was wrong with me? I tried the H..and you know, gobs of great tone.

Light as can be, and that NECK....

All of a sudden I'm doing searches for Sterling Club and such on all kinds of forums and looking at Sterling Porn.

Has the long Shadow of the Ray and Ray 5...and then the Bright Lights of the BONGO made this a Sleeper Bass?

Am I just feeling the effects of this new Kool-Aid? Can you converse with me so I can stop click on Refresh to see who's responded.

I did read BPs dessert island Sterling would be an HS...

Sterlings are not especially lighter than rays. If you found the
    odd featherweight, snag it !!!!

BTW, SR5s were mainly sterlings [not really rays] except for the
the very first few years and the very most recent years. IOW
most of the players who love/loved their SR5s are/were actually
sterling fans ! Maybe including yourselves .....

    Welkum, Pilgrimme !

I really like my sterling. I love the sterling neck. That neck is to me the Magic that makes EBMM work for me. I just happen to like the big al body, and balance more than the sterling. I would have more sterlings if I could find more interesting colors. I would love to have a trans purple, or green. The copperhead is pretty amazing though.

    I love this pickguard

Thanks everyone..NOT looking for buying advice..I'm on the path...Just making an observation about how cool this bass is..and like I said...I know I'm late to the party...,but Yikes..It was was a revelation to me.

How did you discover it...we all get excited about the latest cool new gear with good reason. Like I said..I picked up this bass and thought "where have YOU been all my life"

She answered "I was here all the time"...Woooo..

I've owned MM's since 07 but never had a Sterling. I saw a great demo link here for a 5HS which got my tonal attention, then not long after seeing that I was surfing classifieds at TB just for bass porn purposes and I was done soon as I seen it as it is a BFR Rosewood. The neck carve is one of the best I've ever had. I would have preferred an HH as I'm currently single coil heavy, but yeah it's definitely a revelation to me as well.

Sterling HH, my main bass for years. Best mass produced 1.5" nut bass available period

Once you get you master the right EQ for every switch position you realize almost any tone is possible

My very first Music Man was a Sterling 4 H that I traded an acoustic guitar for from a member on here. I absolutely love that freaking bass too. All natural wood grain and monster tone. Also just as versatile a my Bongo in many ways. It was a wonderful transition too to Music Man basses coming from Ibanez Soundgear basses that had super thin necks. It too has a thinner neck than a Stingray or other models but it plays like butter! Here is a picture of her!

I should have never sold mine but for covers & church I needed something with a little more versatility & politeness than the H... the HH fits the bill perfect! For an original band I'd go back to H again in a second

I've always been under the impression that the Sterling neck would be too skinny for me and feel really comfortable with an SR5 these days (even the neck on my F3nd3r P feels slim). Mistaken?

if you're used to the SR5 neck, then, yes, the Sterling neck would be a change, but so would a Bongo 4 neck or a Big Al neck.
