NBD! Which pick guard to use?

Score! I found a 2013 Sterling 5H in silver on Reverb. This thing is like NOS (new old stock). If there was a previous owner, it was either well taken care of or never played. I had a Sterling 5HH in silver a few years ago, but it was a little on the heavy side + I prefer the single H - and I've been looking for a silver H for a few years now. It came with two PG's - the stock black one and an additional white pearl. I already had a clear one in the parts bin. Which one looks best? I can't decide ;-/

    Congrats.

I like them all but if I had to choose one then I'd go for the clear.

I like the white pearl. But if you really can't decide, rotate the pick guards every so often. You might eventually decide on one you like best.

    Actually that's what I do.

BTW. I now say Black rather than Clear

Silver is beautiful on the sterling. Black looks great but you could always put some art under the clear one. I have done that on a few and liked the contrast.

The white pearloid looks really sharp.

That's was my first thought - because silver looks cool, why cover any of it?

Haha! As Elton John once said, "If I had a clear pick guard....then again, no...."

I didn't think I'd like the black PG, but you're right = it does look good. I'll have to rotate per Edmang.

I'm trying to digest how the natural wood color headstock (if that's the color it is) plays into this decision. I'm thinking with a natural headstock, which is sort of traditional, the pearloid might be a little too "bling-y," and so the black might be best. With a headstock matching the body color, however, that's got some pop to it, and so the pearloid would be my first choice. I don't know. I think Edmang's got a point: keep trying them until you stop trying them. Also, don't look at the bass just sitting there. Instead, look at yourself in a full length mirror with the bass strapped in place, 'cause (imo) you need that visual "context" to make the right decision.

I have a E.B. tortise shell pg for a sterling 5 H if you want an even different look.

Hmmm...I'm really digging the white pearloid on that bass!

I like the white on that body color, but the art under clear idea could also be very cool.

    Thanks for the offer :-)

I'm sticking with clear most likely. Tort is great on a natural or honey burst - IMO of course.
