I can't wait to find out all the nitty gritty technical details about this bass. I hope more will be revealed at Winter NAMM :-)

For anyone who hasn't checked out St. Vincent's new record I highly recommend it. I felt quite inspired after listening to it and created a composition for Los Ageless on my Caprice. So needless to say I am SUPER EXCITED about this bass. Please forgive my cell phones audio and the mess...I'm in the process of moving. ;-)

I believe I may have just had a stroke of brilliance. Imagine if you will, the St. Vincent bass equipped with Game Changer electronics. That would be incredible. :-)

St.V will work great for a Short-scale bass. The neck sits further into the body. I would guess a slightly longer neck pocket with a bass would accomplish the same thing. This is one reason the St.V balances so well in guitar form in my opinion.

That looks fantastic. Well done. The headstock bothers me, but otherwise it looks great.

Thanks a ton, the neck is just part of my prototyping process, it's actually a $32 eBay buy that I had to investigate, haha!

You’re welcome. I like the finish, too. Are you going to make a neck from scratch?

Thanks, the finish was my first attempt at "shou sugi ban," a trendy fire/oil treatment. The silver/black shimmer on the Honduran mahogany grain looks way wilder in person.

Neck wise, I'm thinking of building or buying a solid wenge fretless deal. I've always built neck thrus, and I don't have any templates for or experience with bolt-ons, so I'm on the fence about it. I plan to build a tenor 5 tenor and a fretless 4, and those will be neck thru and scratch built, for sure. I really get into carving comfy heels and am curious as to how that will go with this body style.

I love the solid wenge neck idea. Oh, and yes to the fretless.

I’m a luthier, but I only build acoustic guitars. I made a really sick one piece striped cocobolo neck. It had purple and gold layers. I was inspired by the rosewood neck on my Luke 3.
