Classic Sabre Modification
So, as I mentioned the other day, I picked up a beautiful Classic Sabre that has been modified. The seller hadn't mentioned it in his ad and, when I went back and questioned it after I received the bass, he advised me that he wasn't the original owner and hadn't even noticed it while he owned the bass (he also suggested that if I had a problem with the modification I could return the bass, which was righteous of him).
It's actually not that easy to spot as the LED is almost underneath the volume knob (ignore the ceiling light reflections).... I only noticed it when I happened to tug on the volume knob and, voila; a tuner!

Here's the mod. I can't find any manufacturer marks:

I've been around the sun a few times but have never seen one of these.....
