    Stingray 4 Classic nut/finish crack

Hi guys, new to the forum, this is my first post here.

I bought a used Stingray Classic 4 a few days a go, and while I was changing the strings, I heard a crack and found that the nut was cracked under the G string and the finish around it was cracked as well! Luckily, it's staying in place for now. What would be the best way to get this fixed?

Oh wow. Did you move up to larger size strings? It's rare to have a nut crack like that.

Nope, they were the strings that were on the bass (Rotosounds) when I bought it, I’m assuming they’re the standard gauge (40-105). The most I did was take the string out of the nut to straighten the windings on the tuner so I can only presume that it got stuck in the slot and cracked the nut when it came out. For now, I’ve decided to leave them on and get the strings changed when I can get it to a luthier to be fixed.

You might wanna order the EBMM
replacement nut now, to have it on
hand when you go to the luthier.

While a luthier can cut a new nut
for you, it will not be an intonation
compensated nut, as is the EBMM.

It's a stingray classic, so no compensated nut.
