    Well this is odd......'77 Stingray

I took in another abused project today, '77 body with a '79 neck. Someone did terrible things to this bass and it needs to be brought back to life. What I find odd is that there are no pick guard holes on the body, there are other holes caused by the previous abuser, but no pick guard screw holes. Anyone seen this before?

Can you post a picture from the backside of the body?
Are there the two channels at the pickup cavity?

Apart from the extra pickup cavity that’s been filled in I’m guessing they have been filled over, the photos are not very clear. But I do love a good restoration project

Yeah my pics aren't the best...there are no holes for the pg and they haven't been filled in or the top re-capped.

Sometimes they did that for retailers who may have wanted an instrument for themselves without the pickguard attached. I have a pic of one (somewhere) sent to me by a music store owner. I'll post it when I find it.

That is a strange one especially with it having the neck pick up modification and reversal

Yes Danny, soon it will be hidden, as I'll be planing off the top and re capping it with .25" piece of northern ash.

That’s a full on restoration, it’s going to look amazing again!
Don’t forget to put up some progress photos as you are doing it

I found this in an old thread.
I know the current owner and the bass is 1977.
