Recording Using Only Music Man Instruments

Love Potion #9 by Jack Williams 166 | Free Listening on SoundCloud

This seemed like a good idea for some reason. I could have been wrong. About the song selection, I mean.

I recorded a couple of different basses and decided on the Hot Wheels Crazy Yellow Bongo 5HH. Recorded direct with a Radial Cube stocked with dbx mic pre, parametric EQ and compressor.

The guitars were all one guitar, the Orange Crush Albert Lee HH plugged into a Vox AC30 which was mic-d up with one of those Sennheiser guitar microphones.

I faked up the slight vocal harmonies which I hope to replace with a cool girl I know and sometimes play with (in a band, get your mind out of the gutter).

    Comments welcomed!

It really does, but it doesn't sound like any of my other Bongos and I can't quite decide why that should be. Maybe I'm just out of practice with the HH electronics since my go-to Bongos are both single H fivers.

BTW, thank you guys for listening.
