33 year old "kid" here who already owns an 8 string and merely wants Music Man to venture into that foray. It's got nothing to do with wrapping one's brain around it. It's just more range and more options for how to approach the instrument and the tones you create with it.

If 2 of the strings can play themselves, I'd be interested.

    ^I absolutely agree with this!
44-year old "kid" here, who plays mainly 7-strings but also owns an 8-string.

I was only kidding. I admire the ones who play the 7 and 8 strings. No offense meant, my friends.

So an 8 string would have an extra B on bottom and a high A added on top? Could you go two lower strings or is the scale length not long enough for that?

as far as I know, 8-strings are more often tuned like a regular 6 with two lower strings added (B and F#). Also very commonly the lowest string (8th string) is dropped to a low E (which would be the same pitch as the low E on a regular 4-stirng bass guitar).
