Exclamation NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Days! NYNGD #2016-14

    .
Welcome to Day 14 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Thanks for the kind words and comments on NYNGD #2016-13! Sorry it's been about a week since the last NYNGD was posted -- I was on the road...

We're really on the home stretch now! FOUR DAYS LEFT!

The 2016 Premier Dealer Network (PDN) run is a triumph! This run was pretty much universally loved by all EBMM fans, and it's no wonder why. The Starry Night finish is just gorgeous. A silver/black/gray sparkle finish with a very subtle blue burst yields a beauty that's extremely hard to photograph. Couple that with the roasted maple neck and an ebony fretboard without position markers, and the design is super clean and elegant. This LIII is an outstanding example.

I must admit I was intitially concerned about the lack of fret inlays -- "I'll be lost without fret dots!" -- but once you get the guitar in your hands it's a no-brainer and you realize that you don't rely on those dots as much as you thought you did! (And it does have side dots so all is not lost).

The coolest thing about this guitar is the ebony fretboard -- it smells amazing. This is raw wood. Not laquered, sealed, or oiled. It smells like sitting around the fire at a campsite. It smells like that corkboard you had in your room when you were a kid. Just outrageous. It just reminds me that nobody making guitars today can touch the mojo that is Ernie Ball Music Man. Nobody.

I'll be back in the next day or so with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day!

    Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

I wouldn't usually like either ebony or lack of dot markers but that looks so classy!

Looks very familiar - identical to my Starry Night LIII, in fact! Absolute home-run finish on this run. I know you're enjoying playing that one. I really like the unmarked fretboard.

Nice one Jeff! Boy, it's REALLY nice to be able to relate to your thoughts on one of the additions to your collection. I have one too (albeit a Silo not a LIII)!!! Your last sentence sums it up PERFECTLY! ONE of a kind MOJO!!!

    Congrats on your 2016 PDN!

One other thing - GREAT job on the photos! You've done the best job yet capturing the mystic properties of the Starry Night finish.
