Looks legit to me. Ask for a serial#, so you can check with EBMM to be absolutely sure.

Looks legit to me as well - it's an early Axis Sport. They had the pickguards and were available in HSS for the first year of production (or maybe the first 2 years of production - kind of lost track). I think the HSS Axis Sport HSS and SSS models were replaced by the 2 MM-90 model when the Silhouette Special came out in 1996 (and they dropped the pickguards from the Axis Sports).

Looks more like it's been played a lot. The neck on the axis is oil finished but the headstock is gloss poly finished.

They're great guitars, and you can usually get decent deals on them. I almost bought a very similar one in blue earlier this year, but I had just bought my PDN and couldn't come up with the cash before it sold. Looks to me like the previous owner may have oiled the neck with something that darkened it a little at some point, but the headstock looks like natural wear into the gloss finish at the top through lots and lots of use.
    My stuff:
2007 Axis Pacific Blue Burst (9/25/07)
2016 Axis Super Sport Starry Night PDN (11/23/16)

2016 Gibson Les Paul Studio Deluxe Caribbean Night
    1996 Washburn N2 Padauk Stain
    SBMM JP70 Trans Purpleburst
