    Finish on a Custom Guitar

Hi. I just bought a custom order 1994 Silhouette. Translucent Butterscotch finish.

I've been told (and read) that EBMM never used nitrocellulose for their finishes but would like to be sure that's true with the custom finishes as well before putting this beauty on a stand.

I too have a special run early 90s trans guitar, and it's got a polyester finish. Never heard of a nitro MM.

Never heard of nitro on an EBMM guitar. Not sure why people are so hung up on it.

Some of the cushioning materials on guitar stands react very badly with nitrocellulose. They can discolor the finish.

It's hard to get guitarists out of the 1950s. We have better materials and technologies now.

I know but I also know that some of the replicas and reissues use nitrocellulose. Keep seeing these disclaimers on stands for sale, as well, saying to be sure it's the right one for your guitar's finish.

Love my new guitar. I don't mind it getting banged up...but the finish is a nice one.

oh, yeah I know that. I mean why people are hung up on having guitars with nitro top coats. Often the color coats were acrylic , especially for metallic colors.
