Cool NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Days! NYNGD #2018-7

    .
Welcome to Day 7 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Thanks for the kind words and comments on New Year's Day's NYNGD #2018-6!

Sorry I'm not getting these out once a day -- I'm back to work now and only have a couple hours each night to photograph and edit guitars. Bear with me -- I'll probably be delivering one every other day (maybe I can make up some time this coming weekend)...

Today's NYNGD is a really cool one. When the 2015 Premier Dealer Network (PDN) run was announced, I hated it. Just didn't like the color of the body and the relative lack of figuring on an LIII, Silo, etc, but also didn't like "vintage maple neck" which was a bit brighter and yellower than we're accustomed to from EBMM.

Well, fast forward a couple years to 2017 and I saw this one on eBay and it had a rosewood board (but the back of the neck is still the vintage maple). The collector in me couldn't resist and after some negotiating it was done: #2017-4.

Well, that guitar is okay, but in early 2018 I found this LIII BFR on Reverb and was intrigued. Honestly, the photos on Reverb and the photos that I took today of thi guitar all look darker, more orangey, and more contrasty, and I was a little bit let down when it arrived. The photos below are color corrected and are really accurate to the actual guitar.

This LIII sounds and plays great. A super-loud guitar acoustically, and it feels awesome. Has that pronounced "V" neck, which I have gotten more used to (no orbital sander, please).

I've used this to track leads on a few sessions. Never used live, so far.

I'll be back tomorrow-ish with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day! Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

Wow, great flame and figuring on the neck. I see why it was hard to pass up.

Nice! Take your time with the pics. Since we are past new years anyway, make it a first month of the year thread.

I was just about to say the same thing!!!!

Jeff, congrats on another find. You know, you could always make the NGD's last till NAMM to fill the void.

Finally a Luke ! My fave so far this year : loving the flame on the neck and the top .
I also wasn't blowed away by the colour when that BFR run was announced , but this particular one is just perfect . Another great score Jeff .
