    NGD for Me!!!

Ok, so more like semi-new gear day for me. Sweetwater was having a crazy demo sale on some 2018 October BFR Majesties and I had to snag one (and quick, they were dropping like flies).
If you care about a little story, here it is. I was a rabid Dream Theater fan from 1993-ish to about 2010. I would hang on every note they released. Thing was, I never have been a person chase Signature models just because I liked a player because the instrument was made to their specs and may not be anything I would want to play on a daily basis. Anyway, a couple weeks before Christmas, I went to the local Sam Ash to look at some stuff and Einstein here locked his keys in his car. I had to wait 3 hours for my wife to get off work, but hey, I guess that would be as good of a place as any to be stuck (no kids playing Sweet Child o' Mine there either). I was in the big-buck room and they had the EB Majesties but they also had the Sterlings too. I grabbed a Sterling and played it for at least an hour. I was blown away. Who would have known that Petrucci in all of his grizzly bear-ness would play such a smaller sized guitar with a slimmer neck. Fast-forward to Monday and i get an email from Sweetwater saying 48 months same-as on Ernie Ball. I would have never thought I could swing the EB version but sure enough they 4 of the October BFR's demos for a huge discount. They had varying degrees of wear and tear, but 2 were nothing at all. Well one disappeared right before my eyes, so I jumped on the next and the rest is history.
It go here today and I've played it for about 4 hours since I got home from work. This thing is incredible. The one thing that blew me away on the Sterling was how the neck practically feels like it's suspended in space. The ebony fretboard and stainless frets are like glass. I was a little worried about having played for 35-ish years with fretboard markers that the lack of dots would mess me up. I guess I use the side dots more than I realize. No problems there at all. The Cinnabar Red might not be for everybody, but my wife and I call them bass boat colors and like them fine.
You'll have to excuse my dreadful camera and lack of picture taking prowess.
