The pink JP15's certainly leave a lot to be desired in that area. For a special run, it should pop from the bottom to the top.
Iím really torn on this. I love the appearance of a crazy quilted top or flamed neck as much as the next player, but I also recognize that these are crafted from harvested timber. Variation is a feature of that timber. Iím not experienced in this, and would love to read someoneís take who is, but especially with necks, it seems that it could be difficult to judge what the appearance will be of a neck after itís milled from a given piece of maple? It seems like it would be easier to judge a body or top blank for itís grain, since it is exposed to a greater degree before you begin building from it.

Iím fortunate to have three EBMM guitars with roasted necks. One is pretty spectacular, another is pretty special, and the other is not nearly so striking, but I donít worry about it, since it plays like a dream anyway.

Yeah, that's mine. It is a complete STUNNER of a neck and even the body is a perfect looking piece.

I've also noticed a ton of variation in the eminence purple JP15s while shopping around for one. Not just variation in the roasted necks, but also some major differences in the consistency of the ebony boards (regarding lighter streaks and splotches) and even noticeably different hues of the stain:

Not necessarily a bad thing though as it might be exactly what someone is looking for. Perhaps they prefer a slightly more violet top than the majority of the other builds, or a more unique board with some crazy randomness going on. I'm sure each one will make someone out there very, very happy for a very, very long time. It makes each one that much more unique.

The challenge is finding "the one" that has the perfect combination of neck, top, board, and color that fits your personal taste. Don't give up. It is out there somewhere!!! You just have to find it

"Figuring" in wood is technically a defect in the wood structure. So you want your defects perfect? Tough Crowd.

I would not have a problem owning any of those Paradise Pink JP15s from Sweetwater.

Wood is a natural product, and will always have variations in color, dye uptake, etc.
