Did Anyone Manage To Get A New L3?

    Hi guys,

I hope you are all well and keeping safe. I was just wondering if anyone has managed to get their hands on a new L3 yet? I did try and get one over here in the UK but unfortunately they are all sold and there's no more till next year.

If you did managed to get one what's your thought's on it? And also has anyone compared it to the old model? I'm lucky enough to own an HH and HSS in the old model and I really love them. But you know GAS is calling lol.

    Cheers

I did get a new L3 with the EBMM Pickups two weeks ago and I love it!
I also have a L3 with the Dimarzio Transition Pickups.

In comparison with the Transition Pickups the new EBMM have slightly lower output.
But the EBMM Pickups are way more transparent, open sounding and more dynamic than the Transition Pickups.
When you compare them side by side the Transition Pickups are mory bassy and I would say muddy sounding (muddy sounding not in a bad way)
It's like you remove a blanket from the speaker.
The new EBMM Pickups are more like hotter Stingray Pickups and I really like them.
I did love the Transition Pickups but actually I prefer the EBMM Pickups because they are more natural open and dynamic sounding.
I like them that much I have a second new L3 in Fuchsia Sparkle on preorder.

    Cheers

Thanks for the reply and info Sash. I'm gonna have get one now lol. I have a Firemist purple in the HSS config and an HH in Boysenberry burst. I'd like to get an HSS in Fuchsia Sparkle too.

I can't order anything over here in the UK unfortunately not till early next year. Dealers can't order any yet so I'm told. I'm really hoping one will turn up when the next shipment is due.

    Thanks again

Interesting, because when I got my LIII a few years back, I couldn't believe how open/bright and I hesitate to throw in the old cliche but here goes 'transparent' those transitions were. A bit 'in your face' tonally. However, over time, the guitar has mellowed a lot, tonally, and now it sounds a lot classier. Goes to show that what i was hearing wasn't the pickups, but the entire instrument. They do say that when a solidbody guitar is brand new, that's the brightest it will ever sound. With age and playing in, it will mellow off.

A friend of mine has just picked up one of the new LIII's an Ocean sparkle HH one. He's saying good things about it, but I'd like to do a comparison, when/if it's ever possible of course.

The new Pickups sound a lot like the Stingray Pickups, maybe a little hotter.

I really like the Transition Pickups, they are really fat sounding, transparent yes definitely but the new EBMM Pickups just way more open and transparent.
I'm moving right now, so I can't do a video etc.
I think you will like them.
