Exclamation NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Days! NYNGD #2020-2

    .
Welcome to Day 2 of my annual New Year's New Guitar Days (NYNGD)!

Hi all! Thanks for the kind words and comments on yesterday's NYNGD #2020-1!

If you're not familiar or didn't stop by yesterday, here's what this is all about: Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day as we ring in 2019! Standard caveat: In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. My answer is here!

Alright... shut the heck up Jeff and let's get going with the next guitar!

Today's guitar is timely since puranalog just posted a few things about his 1993 Floyd Silo! Guitar #2020-2 is an amazing translucent red 1994 Silhouette with a floating Floyd Rose and a rosewood fretboard. This guitar reminded me of what I love so much about old Floyd-equipped Silos. Most of my guitars have all been packed up since my recent move while the new studio is being built, and it's been a while since I rocked a Floyd Silo! (As many of you may recall, my old #1 was a black Floyd Silo). Everything about this guitar is still perfect 26 years after it was born. Plays perfectly. Awesome shape. Floating EBMM Gotoh Floyd. Amazing neck.

I'll be back tomorrow with another NYNGD: New Year's New Guitar Day!

    Thanks for looking everyone!

(The back story in case you're new to my NYNGD: For the past couple of years I've done a fun thing that most of you I think enjoyed, and I thought I would do it again this year. Every year, I am a slacker about keeping my Guitar Gallery up to date... So, as a fun holiday thing, let's launch a guitar in the Guitar Gallery each day leading up to New Years Eve! In the past I've received PM's about my collection and whether I play all of these guitars. The same question came up during my NYNGD posts a few years ago and my answer was pretty detailed and well thought-out, so please check it out here!)

(Also, in case anybody gets any funny ideas -- these guitars are not at my house. They are all in my very secure and alarmed studio facility. I usually only have two guitars floating around the house...)

    Hey Stevie:

Yes! The Silhouette originally was released with a hardtail, and then with a Schaller locking trem (with the nut locking on the headstock behind the nut). And then in 1993 -- someone correct me if it was earlier, but I think it was '93 -- these came out with the Gotoh EBMM Floyd that's floating (along with the original Luke model - a/k/a the Luke 1). They continued with the floating trem until... I think the early 2000s when the Silo went to a vintage trem. In 2012, EBMM released a limited run called "Silhouette Classic Reissue" in Trans Teal, Trans Purple, Pacific Blue Burst, Natural, and Sledge -- all with HH and a floating Floyd. (They also released a Luke I reissue with floating Floyd in 2012 too, in Sledge, Pearl Red and Pearl Blue).

Yes! Love my ‘96 trans Teal Silo HSH w/FR bridge and recessed neck plate! I ordered it from GC in ‘95 then waited forever for it!

    Beautiful guitar.
    I like translucent colors !
This guitar is 26 years old but looks new. It is crazy ... when I look at my Morse (2001) or my SUB, I see so many wear marks and battle scars !!!

Oh wow! This is a really nice find! I usually don't like solid red guitars but translucent/transparent red have such extra color depth to them it's hard not to. Well done, Jeff!
