    AXIS With Cream BacK?

Has any one ever seen an Axis with a cream back. I'm thinking of having my 2005 LE Rosewood refinished but with a cream/off-white colored back. It would need to be a different color than the binding which is really what I would call "cream".

Is the binding on these painted by the way? Mine has two chips that look like paint was over the actual binding - which is a darker color.

It’s my understanding that EBMM uses a semi-liquid polymer to create the binding (have a look at an EBMM tour online). The darker colour could be attributed to aging, top coat.

The binding will be ‘lost’ with an off-white back. With an Arctic White back, the binding would be a subtle accent, but only close up. Even if you kept the top as-is, the binding wouldn’t show up as much with an off-white back.

A Sonic Blue back would show off the binding or any other 50’s pastel guitar/car colour.

Interesting thought on the 50's color back...

My recommendation would be to not refinish an LE Rosewood guitar, especially a hardtail which is pretty rare. Instead, buy a new one and sell this LE on. Refinishing it will kill the value of a rare guitar. Of course if it's your baby and you love the feel and hate the look, then have at it!

The refinish is really to fix all of the damage that it had when I bought it. Its not necessary that I change the color, just thought it might be cool and unique. There are 3 newer one (2010-2014) on Reverb right now selling for $2100-$2800. I only $1075 for mine...

Are you keeping it? If so, why spend the $$$ to refinish the back, which is likely to wear anyway? Some black nail polish will cover up a lot of that mess.
