Any opinions on the Dimarzio Air Zone?

the guy at Dimarzio reccomended that I try one of these in my Axis. It's a bit warmer and not quite as hot as the stock pup. Anyone here like/dislike this pup?

it's been awhile since I've played a fred loaded guitar...but they're both punchy, without the mid range honkiness...and the harmonics are pretty killer....that's just going from memory....I'd have to A/B them to see how they really compare...but I don't think you can go wrong with a JB....it's really a fantastic pup..and it cleans up really nice when you roll of the guitar volume

pups, although less costly are probably the biggest pain in the arse to get a sense of in all of guitardome...lol...you never really know how it's gonna sound until you slap it in and try it out! oh, you might have an idea by playing a guitar with a pup in there that you're intersted in, but you're always taking a chance...

as far as my esp goes, the JB's the third pup I had in my lynch...first it was the demon..then the duncan distortion then the JB...finally found my pup =)

The Air Zone is like a Tone Zone with more headroom it breathes a lot.
Depends on in what guitar you want to put it in.

No experience with the air zone but I have used a tone zone in the bridge and thought it was lifeless. It sounded OK but I was hoping for a pickup that had less mud and more harmonics like the Fred. Out of all the passive pickups I have tried my favorite for the bridge is the breed followed by the Fred. I would like to try the EVO2 though.

Hey Shredder, what was it about the distortion that you didnt like, and what kind of wood is the lynch, I had a JB in a strat and it was way too bright, I put the distortion in there and I got the growl I needed so I was curious of your experience -
