    EBMM GTA Forum Event

That's right, you've been waiting for it, and it's happening! Awhile ago someone on the Forum noticed a lot of members were from the Greater Toronto Area. Well, we've decided to throw a Ernie Ball Musicman Forum Party (The Ball Ball? Someone suggest a better name?), hopefully the first of something that will become an annual event! The Glennster, our favorite EBMM rep will of course be joining us as you can't have a Musicman event without him, and The Arts Music Store (905) 898-7164 will be hosting.
Here's the scoop: Sunday, October 28th is the date, start time is 3:00 P.M. for those of you who were gigging the night before. Venue is "The Wheat King" on Main Street South in Newmarket, same place we had the Albert Lee Clinic for those of you lucky enough to attend. This is a 19+ event, as great music and beverages so often go hand in hand, and besides, this is a SOCIAL event! Bring your EBMM guitars and basses , some guitar stands to proudly display them on, and your bad self. We know some of you have cool guitars from other makers, but this is a Musicman event so leave them at home. We'll have a stage setup, with a drumkit, great bass amp, and some cool guitar amps, so other than a tuner and your favorite dirt box and cables, leave your rig at home! We're there to let lots of folks step-up and play their instruments, not spend a third of the day watching people setup and soundcheck their rigs. Level playing field folks! The Arts is bringing one of their house bands, "The Ball Busters" (actually, we've never managed to break one) to kick-off the ceremonies and jump in when players are needed, but the idea is to get those of you who'd like to play some tunes a chance to shine. Work-up 3-4 tunes you'd like to play, and if you have some other Forumites you'd like to play with, just let us know. Those of you that would rather just watch/enjoy, that's cool too. I'll say it again, this is a social event to have fun, meet your fellow EBMM players and check-out their amazing axes, and enjoy some cool tunes.
Soooo, the details are still getting worked-out, and if any of YOU have ideas to make it a better event, we'd love to hear them. This is YOUR event. We need you to RSVP epykala@theartsmusicstore.com so we know how many of you to expect. Let us know your name and forum handle, your email address and a daytime phone number, how many people you're bringing, what style(s) of music you want to play, and whether you already know which forum members you'd like to play with (all this info remains strictly confidential!). We'll be putting together lineups based on musical style, but if any of you want to get organized it would make things easier. We are hoping to have some Special Guests, and hopefully have some pieces on hand you just don't see. Since you're coming to Newmarket anyway, perhaps go early and check-out The Arts Music Store and their impressive collection of Musicmans. Worth the drive to Newmarket, and five minutes away from the venue!
I'll post this in the Guitars and Basses sections too, but only to point you to this post. Please keep your responses on this thread so I don't have to skip all over the place. If you need to inquire about something on a more personal note, please do it through the RSVP email address and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Phoning me during the day is tough, as I'm up to my neck in repairs. We're hoping this will be the start of something that turns into an annual event. Let us know your thoughts.-Eric/"Lance Romance"

    Lance,

Unbelievable!! Sounds incredible! I'm going to certainly try and be a part of it. Besides, I hear there is some nice real estate up in that area.

BTW, does the name "sassy" ring a bell?? Let me know.

This is great. I live ~ 10 minutes away!

I have never played with a band ... I'm a basement player - play along with CD's and DVD's ... might be a good opportunity to break out of my shell and give it a shot!

I'm glad my idea turned into something.

This is great. Please allow me to bring my Mesa Boogie Mark III Coliseum. You won't believe how great it sounds, and I'd be happy to let the forumites use it.

    I'll bring my JP6 and BFR JP6.

Glad the response is so positive! Adamrogo, did you read the part about "level playing field" in terms of amps? I've run some some really successful long-running jams, and in time available there's no way we can have people bringing their rigs. I'd love to bring mine too for playing in the house band (and I have all the time in the world to set it up), but rules are rules for a reason. We'll bring some cool ones, but that's why I suggested the "favorite dirt box" approach (we'll bring cool pedal-friendly amps).
Folks, we're open to any and all ideas. My concept for this one was to set a band atmosphere, put a bunch of people with similar interests in the same place, and see what happens. Players of all levels are welcome, as this isn't a competition, it's for the love of the Music and Musicman guitars and basses. If some people feel uncomfortable about playing to a crowd, come along and watch the fun. The bottom line is JUST COME AND HAVE FUN.
Anyone have a better name for this event? If people like it we can use it in years to come. I'm thankful The Arts Music Store has been so enthusiastically pro-Musicman over the years, because it allows us to do things like this, and do them right.
Man, am I ever looking forward to this!-Eric/Lance

WHOOOOHOOOOO! A Canucklehead Convention in the GTA!

I will firm up my attendance but from this point it looks like a go for me! It's a bit of a drive from Sarnia, but I may be able to round up some of the other Southwestern Ontario Canuckleheads to make the trip enjoyable too. Is The Arts open on Sundays?

That's no problem, I wanted to let the amp be used by everyone, but that's ok of course.

(I'm not very good, I need to have that home-base feel to play decent :P)

    And Nils, fake ID?

I'll start this off Lance (looking forward to meeting you) ... "Music Man Canuck Jam" ... no affiliation to any one retailer, Canada theme, references Music Man as the main Sponsor, a jam versus a competition.
