Help, my G string is slipping

I have a problem, maybe you guys can help me. I just put new strings on my Sterling, but the G string keeps slipping off out of the tuning post (out of that hole in the middle). Know anything that could fix that? They're stainless steel strings. I've tried bending the end so that it's doubled in the hole. That didn't work either. And it's not too short, cause I am getting three wraps around the post.

    I posted a response before I remembered that you're a bass player.

Here's a useful string-lock tip for guitars FWIW. Not really applicable to basses, though:

Here's a handy video, courtesy of our own Psychicpet, of a Bongo string change: I do more or less what is shown here and it works great, never had any string slippage:

Whatching that movie. That's exactly how I do my strings. I usually even cut the end at the bridge if the strings are dead. Recently, I've been changing strings on my Sterling a lot to see what I like on it, and haven't been clipping ends cause I put them back into string envelopes, label them and keep them (change strings almost every 3 or so days lately for the last few weeks). This is the first time the G is slipping on me.

That would mean new string, as I cut it. I don't know why 3 wraps wouldn't be enough.

    Try LESS wraps!
The way the post is designed, if you have a lot of wraps the beginning of the string gets pusted high up on the post, and that can cause the slipping I guess.
Anyway, I use just over 1 full wrap, others 2, but three seems like a lot.
Look mum, I even made a pictorial about restringing

Thanks for that. I do that, except the bend then cut. Guess I need to do that. I usually but, then bend.

Wrap it through the slit at the top of the post and then fully around the post.

    This will stop it slipping.
