Couple o' Bass String questions...

Hey Gang!

I'm looking to try some new strings on my SUB5. I have been using another brand for several years which are stainless steel and I'd like to try some Balls!

First of all, what's the tonal difference between Nickel wound and stainless? With Nickel being a softer metal, I assume there would be string life differences as well.

I see that there are no 5 string stainless sets. Would there be any problems with getting a 4 string set and buying a single B-string if I wanted to stay with stainless?

Also, what are the Hybrid strings?
