    why...

...dont they make special sets of strings that are used for alternate tunings but will equal tensions of 9s or 10s in e standard. ive been trying to find a set that will feel the same but it always takes too much adjustment and then the guitar feels less, personal i guess is the word. plus it would be nice not to even really have to play with the truss rod or floating bridges and could change tunings just by changing strings

    Hey Fat,

Great question?? In fact you can build upon those thoughts even further.

However, suffice to say, the current status quo is sufficient to accomodate ALL the styles and tunings.

In fact, some drop tune just for the sole purpose of getting that "loose" feel!!!

If the the same string tension is applied it may (don't know for sure) change the the dynamics of the string.

You can build a bridge that would adjust to keep the same "pull" no matter what the tension - call Floyd Rose. LOL
