Last I knew he used D'Addario nickel round wound six string .032-.130

Yes, but then he switched to D'Addario Pro Steels. Then he switched to Bongo basses and after that his name mysteriously disappeared from D'Addario's website, then I noticed his name on EB nickel slinky bass strings packaging.

So was just wondering if he uses the nickel or steel strings. And I just found out today that even though the EB nickel strings are now in the "element shield packaging" (which really works btw) the EB stainless steel strings still are in the old non-sealed packaging.

i don't suspect John uses the stainless slinky's

    for two reason's:

    1. there's only one gauge for the c-string available for stainless EB,
which is .028, which is way too thin, and Myung's high-c sounds far from thin,
and also: when you listen to his overal sound it doesn't sounds like stainless

    2. when you look at his bass, you'll just see the colour of nickel plated strings,
which makes some sense as well: every MM bass comes with the nickel EB's stock,
and my opinion is that John problably stuck with those ever since
