    Update...

Strings installed with 2 to 2.5 wraps with no problem.

Letting the strings stabilize and stretch for final tuning.

Getting a picture for the sweepstakes but it isn't a MM bass.

I'm just learning of these strings...are they bright and zingy, or do they have any darkness to them?

Anybody who's got them on their single-buck Ray, please give me some feedback.

    Thanks!

And when I said "some," I meant the 5 string sets. Can't find them in stock anywhere at this point.

Thanks Jack. Wasn't trying to bust yer chops or nothing old bean.

Lots of folks string in different ways so I was curious. You ever see Harry's fancy clove hitch looking string up over the post that probably gets a boy scout merit badge?

    Strings still holding firm.

Thumbs up My take on the coated bass strings. EB set 3836 5 strings

I have used the EB 5 string set (the ones in the green packet code 2836 Regular Slinky) since time began, I have always had those strings on all my previous basses even before I owned my first stingray 5. (and I've had 2 of them) which is fair to say if there was going to be a remarkable nasty difference on these new coated sets, I would have been able to notice straight away. On the contrary, I can tell you in all honesty that the new coated ones, even though they have only been on the bass just under an hour, they don't seem to show any negative difference, of course I am not yet able to tell if they will sound as bright as they do now in the weeks to come but I am hoping that they will.

As for the enamel coating, I can't even tell it's there, they don't feel weird at all to me, nor different in terms of touch and sound, and I was pleasantly surprised that the low B still retain the same punch and clarity as with the 2836 set.

It could be just my opinion but I also feel that the coated strings sound better when the piezo is set at 100% it seems like the sound is more bassy and less nasal, which is another bonus imho.

I will give these strings a good test in the weeks to come but I am positive that they represent yet another great product from the Ernie Ball factory (thanks BP), and if you haven't tried them yet do yourself a favour and get a set, specially if you use a piezo.

    Thumbs up from me.

Absolutely BP, many many thanks to Brian, Jody & Derek.

Note to self: EB Coated strings, set of 5 - item #3836 fitted on Friday 4th Sept. 09 - (so I know how long they've lasted me when the time comes)

They've been on the bass 2 days now and I love how they feel, sound and stay in tune. No slippage from the pegs on these babies, and there's another set on order for the Ray, it's only fair.

agreed BP but you know in this business you have to take the rough with the smooth, I have clients complaining that their cargo arrives late because my ship is delayed in port due to lack of labour, strikes, whatever right? Yet even thought it's not my fault, it's me who has to take it on the neck when the ship owners sends me his strong emails. I just take a deep breath, count up to 10 and carry on.
