"Step" type bass strings (stupid question)

Forgive an old geezer for asking a stupid question. I don't know much about guitar strings.

I bought a used bass that came with LaBella SuperStep strings on them. The core is exposed for the last two inches or thereabouts, so that it is the core that interacts with the bridge saddle. I like this feature.

My question is, does Ernie Ball (or another company) offer a similar step-type bass string? Nothing wrong with the LaBellas, but nobody in my parts carries this brand of string, but several dealers carry Ernie Ball...I just don't know what to ask for. I'd rather buy local if I can.

Again, perhaps a stupid question. I don't know much about guitar strings.

Those strings sound very interesting, but Ernie Ball doesn't offer this type of string. The only stepping which is found on the Ernie Ball bass strings is found on the other end of the strings to provide better compliance with the tuners.

Is this for an Musicman bass? I have tried many differant brands and went back
to EBMM super slinky's for all my EBMM basses.
Their are several string manufactures that make the strings you are looking for, but really
it has no advantage having the simi core over the saddles unless it's an older bass without the different guage cutouts in the saddles.
EX:...DR makes a hi beam taper- core string along with a few others.Just do a search for tapered bass strings.
PS there are no stupid questions, if you don't ask you don't learn anything.
Music is food for the soul...And i'm hungry.
