Hey guys. Thinking about buying my first set of coated strings for my Ray. Do these strings really last a lot longer than traditional sets? Also are they worth the difference in price. I would appreciate you voice on this subject.

Hi,
although I am from the skinny stringers, you might want to read my praise on the coated slinkys: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/musi...le-praise.html
I am pretty sure that the coated bass strings will last even longer than my skinny coated strings
Rock on!
I posted a thred simular to this myself a while ago, peoples preference and attitude towards coated strings differs from person to person, myself had never used coated strings of any form before i got my mits on a set of EB coated (50-105 regulars) thay broke in quickly an retained a nice even tone to this day (8 weeks and counting) there is a slightly diffrent feel to them as aposed to the standard nickle rounds, thay just feel like new still so ..... cant complain
best advice = get your self a set a try them out for yourself , i personaly recomend .
Stingray. 4H, Buttercreme 2005 L.E. (E46580, 05/05/05.) Coated Hybrid Slinky's.
Stingray. 4H, Vintage Sunburst. (E47406, 31/05/05). Hybrid Slinky's.
GENZ-BENZ. Amp's...
i agree. try them the next time you buy strings.
they feel a little different, not slippery like other brands but more dry-ish. still not like acoustic strings that may feel like glue sometimes
soundwise i also find them a bit more broken in sounding at first, but the zing they got just last and last

trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your pressious!
also, if you are lucky enough to have a 100th namm sr4: the truss works the other way around on that one!

I like Elixirs. They do sound more broken in to start with, and they last me for years. They are slick feeling.
But I mostly prefer flats.

In my experienced opinion, no, and no.
