can someone help me pick out the right gauges?

i read on another site about gauges that go for other tunings. i was wondering if someone can help me pick out the right gauges. for my Stingray i like to keep it in standard and go Drop D sometimes but then tune back to standard when im done. for my Ray 34 i use it for drop C because of my bands songs. but i also like to use it for standard and drop D as well. With the ray 34 i tune back up as well when im done. Are there any specific gauges that can be used for these situations because i wouldnt want my neck twisting because of the different tensions. An employee told me to always tune back up when finished because leaving the different tensiosn would twist the neck.

Personal preference for me is :
105s-50s (regular slinkys) on my StingRay an all i ever tune to is standard 440 an use drop D now and again. an thay do the job perfectly.
110s-55s (power slinkys) can cope with pretty much any tuning that ive ever dropped to in the past , just when changing gauges a quick tweek here an there is usualy needed but that about it, as far as neck warp i just find a tuning (standard 440) an leave it in that an always use the same gauge so rarly have to tweek anything , wen ive been in D i do always tune the E back up before putting it back in its case an thats always worked for me

Ok so what would you suggest for both basses? Regulars on one and powers on the other? And what do you mean by tweak? Like turn the russ rodbecause uve never done that before. A guy at GC did it for me to fix the buzzon my Ray 34 when I bought it new

Personaly yes, keep one set up one way an the othet the other an "tweeks" are just somthing you gonna have to learn

Ok thanks. Is there a difference between regulars and powers? I want something that doesn't sound trebly like these skullbusters I bought. Biggest mistake and I put them on another bass. Is there one that is heavier or darker sounding than the other?

The diffrence is the gauge of them. "E.B Regulars, Coated" are my bag but thats my choice. When u say "darker of heavier sounding" that could mean anything.
Expencive sounding but you just gotta keep trying diffrent things till you find out what works best for you.

well lets see. by darker i mean for example like cliff burton or johhny christ's tone. im considering trying out power slinky's. don't know ow im gonna learn tweaks myself

For that style stuff then yes i would go for the E.B power slinkys, as you will be down tuning, if in total doubt take your bass to a guitar shop an tell them what you want an get it set up properly & talk to the tec about what is being done to it an why, you might be with out your bass for a couple of days while thay do the work but when you get it back just keep an eye how its playing and anything that your not happy with about it take it back and ask "Dont like this bit how do i...... etc"
Cant realy explain this stuff on a forum cause its somthing that need to be shown if your in any doubt at all about doing it yourself, (ya no i say this an you end up breaking etc .... bad stuff).

thanks. i'm thinking of buying the power slinkys first and putteing them on before i try anythign else. see how i like the strings then. maybe then i could just keep it with those if thats possible without getting it set up.

Yeah definatly, do it, put them on , tune it up an play it!!
playing it being the name of the game an all.

put the power slinkys on my ray 34 and love it. now just have to get it set up for drop c and im good to go. i wanna put those strings on my stingray as well.
