    Tight Strings

    Hello
I'm new to guitars and even newer to Ernie Ball Strings. I picked up a pack of Regular Slinky and I noticed that the 26, 36, 46, string are really tight. I wanted to know if this is normal or if I might have something set wrong. They are on a BC Rich Mockingbird and the strings on my Warlock (Brand unknown) are not as tight but sound about the same. A friend of mine has a Les Paul with the same feel as the Warlocks. Well let me know if you need more information, or if there is/isn't an issue.
    Thanks
    Ches

    Howdy Cheshire,

No problemo!! You just purchased the BEST guitar strings on the planet!!

As long as you are in tune "correctly", you won't have any "string" type issues. Keep in mind that "it is the guitar set-up" that determines those types of conditions as far as the feel of the strings being loose or tight.

However, remember that the Les Paul also has a "shorter" scale (24.75) so the strings will be at a slightly less tension on that guitar verses the 25.5 inch scale guitar.

Cool. The Mockingbird was bought used and setup by the old owner. The Warlock was setup by the dealer. That might have something to due with it.
    Thanks

if you lower the action a bit that will get rid of that tight feeling at least that worked for me
