    Irish music

Hello, I play bass in an Irish music group and I have purchased the Super Slinky Bass strings for the first time (I don't have extensive knowledge of string brands and I don't play for a very long time).

However, I don't like the sound much, there is too much growl on the low strings, the overall sound is too metallic and sharp (it would sound well in funk or something like that, I guess).

Can anyone recommend strings with more mellow, soft sound?

    Thanx.

Sounds like a "new strings" issue more than a string type issue.

A good way to deal with that is to wipe mineral oil into the string (off the bass) to get it into the windings. This removes the metallic new string sound.

An alternative is to go flat wound.
