    Materials in Strings

Hi people, just posting this to see if anyone can offer a bit of help. Im currently doing my a level physics coursework which is an assignment titled 'Why is... used in...' and i have chosen bronze/nickel in guitar strings. Currently my research has been pretty useless as i all i seem to find anywhere is info about which strings sound brighter whereas i need information about the physical properties of the materials and why this makes them suitable for use in the strings. If anyone knows of any books/sites where i can get this sort of info or knows anything themselves it would be much appreciated. Cheers, Matt.

Thomastik- Infeld was the first company to make steel strings. It was all gut before that. They have an interesting site and make a dandy flatwound string to boot.
