Monster is the word that comes to mind when describing his guitar abilities. Now if only we could get him off the PRS guitars and onto the EBMM's like a couple of his fellow Guitar Techniques teachers.

the Suhr he uses on the concert dvd is excellent sounding, i was amazed at the tones he was getting. kind of a mix between a tele and a shred guitar and a strat. looks nice too. apparently he only got given the guitar a short time before the gig, like 30 mins or something.

Beth said awhile back they offered him a deal and he declined. I notice that mag still runs a pic of Guthrie with an Axis sport. I'm just glad he doesn't play Dean

yep thats the one, dont care for that second set with sax player, the first set though is brilliant!!!! Its not a bad looking dvd seeing as its only one camera. Guthrie is some talent.

Guthrie Govan is one of my favorite players along with Greg Howe. I have the dvd of his clinic at Tone Merchants, his chops are ridiculous. It seems he can play just about any style imaginable too. A virtuoso to say the least, his record will be a must have for me.

Guthrie is not just an awesome player, but a really nice guy too. He is very down-to-earth and not at all the "rock star" type - he doesn't let his monster playing get to his head. He did decline a Music Man sponsorship a few years back -- I thought it was very noble and honest of him to state that he wouldn't play the MM as often as we would like. A lot of people would have taken us up on it, just to be able to get access to product without playing our stuff exclusively, and I respect his decision completely.
