    Just Lost My Job....

    All,

The parent company of the company I work for, LexisNexis, hired a new CTO. He came in with one agenda; to streamline the IT organization. My position, as well as others, was eliminated. I was given a severance and 30 days to find another position; either internally within my parent company's organization (this includes LexisNexis) or externally. So, I can go into the office until 07/06/2007 (my official termination date) and sit in my cube and apply for positions.

I have been working with headhunters and recruiters and have been interviewing for positions with other companies lately; but no offers have come. I don't know if it wasn't God's time for me or what. I believe He will provide in His time and through His way.

Please pray for my family that He will provide for us in this time...

    Best,
    Butch

    Hey Butch,

So sorry to hear about the loss of your job! I am sure that something better will come along and knock on your door. What a sweet setup, though, being able to go into the office of your old job specifically to look for another, heheheh.

The tunes on your myspace page are great!
All the best to you out there. Don't get discouraged!!!

I always try and look on the bright side so... look at it this way, you have 30 days to sit on your @$$ in your cube looking for jobs and not working, but you are getting paid for it

That CTO will get his, and I'm sure he sleeps real well at night...

You seem like an intelligent and good guy, and better things are sure to come your way, so chin up

Thanks, and no I won't sell them. What talent I have is God-given. I use it for Him and will until He takes it away from me.....

Well, I have sent out about 40-50 resumes and cover letters so far today and yesterday. I'm seding out so many that I'm having trouble keeping up with what search engine I have used for what position...

Recruiters are calling me left and right. We'll see where it all ends up...

Butch, I have worked in the IT Industry for 25 years. I have seen the impacts of many of these "rightsizing" initiatives. If the Company is cutting cost, is it those who are being let go, or those who are staying that are the "victims". I have found that 1. it's those who stay on that suffer the most, since they have to continue to do all the work with fewer resources. 2. those who lost their jobs end up doing just fine, in fact, often find better jobs. It can also be an opportunity to assess your career and make the change you might have wanted to do, but didn't have any incentive to do so. Best of luck ... I'm sure you will end up OK.

Hey Butch, though we are not from the same continent, I have encountered the same situation before - just like you! About 2 years back, while I was in the construction industry, things were really stagnant and companies either fold up or "downsizing".. I and a few were given the notice to go within a month. It later took me about 3 months to get a new job. Guess what? I am getting paid more now! and during the 2 years in my new position, I was also able to take a long break and visited my bro in CA, also got enough money for new gears (2 Balls! ), and most important of all, my new position allows me to meet my girlfriend. These are things that will never happen if I stay on with my previous industry...

I am not a Christian, but I will request you to stay faithful to your religion for the support you need now. Things aren't exactly that bad - like what all others have mentioned earlier, there might be a better turn to the situation! Stay positive, I believe you will land up with something good. Way to go, dude!

Butch, man. Keep faith. If He leads you to it, He will lead you through it. When things look bad, my friends remind me of that. It's something that I have to remind myself of from time to time as I'm in something of a transition period too. Good luck, and God bless.

I have an interview tomorrow with a very well-known company in downtown Cincy. It's for an IT Project Leader position or as some people like myself would call it, a network architect position. I have a good feeling about it. This isn't my first interview. I had a phone interview with them and I thought it went horrible. It turns out that they were very impressed.

    Say a prayer for me...
