Coil Tap?

Im wanting to know as much as possible about the coil tap, what it is, looks like, does, how to install it into my guitar....
Ya know, just ... everything about it *S*

Also, I was wondering if it matters which guitar would be best to put it in.
And if there might be similiar ways to get the same effect out of it.... But without a coil tap if it isnt needed.

Umn, other than that, I am new to this site and would welcome ANY and ALL advice on ANYTHING.... YAY!
