    A Rediscovery...... QUEENSRYCHE!!!

So I had been jonesin' for the last couple of weeks to hear "Empire" by Queensryche. I hadn't heard that disc in many many many moons. I went out to my local A&B Sound and picked up a copy...... what a great disc! I had forgotten how great bass with a little chorus and overdrive sounds!

anywho, fun disc, fun rediscovery of prog from the past

Totally agree! It's a great album, and Eddie's distorted bass sounds great.

Not to mention that, in my humble opinion, it's one of the best mixed/mastered discs of all time. God I love the sound of it!!!

Wow...I was just thinking that I only wish it had been mixed better. I love the album and have both the standard CD and DVD-Audio versions, but they both leave me wanting more fullness. My favorite album is actually Mindcrime, but the mixing on that one was horrible. It just sounds so thin and compressed.

The music is great as always, but I'd love to see them re-released with a mixing makeover!

Mindrcime. Great stuff. The mix is thin and compressed but oddly lends itself to a cinematic feel, like it is coming out of a television. Sort of supports the concept of the album.

Mindcrime is one of the greatest recordings ever, and in concert it is just killer, but dont waste your time on mindcrime II, just rubbish.

I'd heard that. Too bad. Dio is on it, so it could have been good.

Yeah....I heard the same. My brother saw them recently when they did MCII and he said it was pretty bad. A shame really....a great band with too short a life. They just went off the deep end right after Empire in my opinion.

WD....I guess I see your point on the mixing of MC, but I'd still like it better if it was 'bigger'.

Not joking. I know many famous, semi-famous, and a few infamous people. However, I should clarify.

I know many famous, semi-famous, and a few infamous people. However, I should clarify. Eddie's family has investment property in the Prescott Area. And, I do occasionally speak to him in regard to this property. I also occasionally speak to Cher, Gary Wright, Stevie Nicks, Al Jardine, and Les Claypool.

Then there are the semi famous. Terry Furlong of The Grass Roots, who I did a lounge act with for several years. Ed Carter, former guitarist with the Beach Boys for 28 years, and Felipe Rose, the indian chief from the Village People. I have recently met Toni Tennille and Todd Rundgren.

I won't mention the infamous. But one of them is quite possibly the most unpleasent person I have ever had to deal with. I won't mention the name, but he used to play with a band that has the letters Meta & llica in their name!

    Psychicpet I love you!!!
I read the name of this forum and thought: Queensryche, that's a cool name and totally didn't know who they were so I looked them up on wikipedia. They seemed interesting (I love DT). Next day I walk into a record store and "Operation Mindcrime" is on sale. I bought it and its AWESOME. Thanks for the accidental tip!!!
