OT: looking for left handed stuff - the painful remimder

Yesterday I had to purchase a softball glove for me. My daughter started playing softball again at school. We went out back to play catch. She is right handed an I bought her a glove last year. Well this year she throws a lot harder than last year. My hands were turning red and stinging. Since I play regularly (church gig) I didn't want to trash my hands. Off to the store to buy a glove for myself. Just one little problem, I play baseball / softball left handed. This is the first time In a great while that I have needed anything left handed. Went to Target and found one and only one left handed glove for an adult. This immediately brought to mind my fellow lefties play their instruments that way. Even though I am a left handed person in most things I do. Playing bass and guitar is not one of them. So I felt your pain having to settle for what is there (if any) or special order. My hats off to you and all you have to do to just play. Who knows if the salesman hadn't convinced my Dad (many years ago) to get me a right handed guitar I would right there with you.

I'm a left hander who plays right handed, so I guess that makes me confused.

It can be tough sometimes, that's for sure. Especially when you walk into a music store and see the "wall of righty's" and no lefty's at all. Then in one small corner of the store you see that one cheap import lefty and that's it!! Us lefty's pretty much are sure to have to special order any decent piece of equipment and hope for the best.

Luckily I ordered my lefty Luke without playing it first and I have been nothing but extremely pleased. I could of tried it out first, I would have only had to travel 1000 miles first!!!

I feel your pain. I do everything left-handed except playing bass. Many painful experiences looking in vain for lefty golf clubs convinced me, when I first picked up a bass eight years ago, to learn as a righty. It wasn't any more awkward than it would have been the other way, since I was starting from scratch with no prior playing experience. I'm very glad I did.

Thanks very much for the offer. I went ahead and bought the one they had. My hands just couldn't take it.
