    Lucious Rocks Melbourne

Just got back from the Toto concert in Melbourne. What can I say? Lucious Rules! What phenomenal playing. What a show. What a band. Every musician on the stage was simply sensational. Lucious was at his blistering best. I'll be raving about this concert for the next few months.

It was my 14-year old daughter's first concert, and she loved every moment. She's learning drums and guitar, and is a big fan of Luke and Simon Phillips. What a fantastic introduction to the world of live music it was for her. We also met up with fellow Melbourne knuckleheads Scott (slukather) and Rob (robelinda2). (Great to meet you guys in person!)

Thanks, Lucious, for bringing Toto to Australia! Thanks for another great show. Hope you can come back down under for the "Ever Changing Times" tour!

For those interested in the MusicMan guitars that Luke used, here's a quick run down:

Ruby Burst BFR (Just like mine!)

    Black Sparkle

    Bahama Blue BFR

    Dargie!!!!

Not sure what you'd call this, but it sure is sweet!

Yep it was a great gig, Toto are a seriously awesome band, so tight, just amazing to live. Luke was superb, and very funny.

He he...it's more a case of which one does Rebecca want *first*. She likes Luke Blue, Carbon Blue Pearl and Lava Peral, ... oh, and Purple and Bahama Blue in a BFR. The list goes on. Fortunately, she's so indecisive about things like this, I'll have quite a while to save up!! Hey...she's able to start part time work in about 5 months...she can buy her own!

Rebecca enjoyed the experience very much, and now she's worried that she won't get to see Toto performing live again! She got a hug from Luke as he left, and an autograph from Leland. Not a bad effort for a first concert. My wife (Pamela) who normally shuns loud music loved the concert too, especially when they played her favourite song. (Pam got two hugs from Luke. Hmmm. )

It was a great show. For those of us Toto-nuts that can't afford to travel far to see Toto, it was a real treat to see them perform in our home town.

Rebecca and I cheered wildly when the Dargie came on stage! People around us probably wondered what we were on about. (Ya gotta love a Dargie!)

My guitar tech was also at the concert, and he was excited to see the Dargie too (especially since he'd been doing a setup on mine only a week ago).

Ah - ha! I wondered if it was that one. I was just clueless in terms of what to call it. Beautiful piece of guitar.

I might have to start weights if they get any heavier! Send the heavy ones to Perth, Dizzy looks strong enough.

Here are a couple more photos of Lucious in action:

Luke "Going Spaz" (Rebecca's words) on his trem:

And would someone please give this man an AL or a Silo Special?

(But seriously, it was great to hear Tony Spinner trading licks with Luke. Tony's a talented guy...and I bet there's a few of us that are jealous he's got the job he has!)
