What?! Are you talking about that weird ass patterning in the back?! Mine definitely doesn't have lyrics!

    Watershed

    Watershed is amazing,

I had the pleasure of sitting with Mikael and Fredrik in London listening to the 5:1 Mix at a studio with Roadrunner and some other Journalists. When it got to the end of the record we were all speechless, I think that record is a masterpiece!

    Long live Opeth!

I hate to jump into this discussion with a sales pitch but I just picked up this CD and am disappointed. And this is coming from a long time Opeth fan - I'm just not digging it.
I would much rather someone else enjoy the music so if you want the album at a reasonable price, please pm me and we'll work something out.

The only thing I don't love about Watershed is the growling. But even that Opeth does really well.

Context - I've listened to death metal since the late 80's and the growling got old before 1995. I know it has it's purpose and it's uses but for me, it's overdone x 1,000,000,000. I must just be getting old cause I like newer Opeth and newer Soilwork better than the older stuff from either though I can't deny the Thrash-tastic-ness of either bands early stuff.

You've got to admit though, buying an Opeth record and saying you don't like the growling is like buying an Yngwie record and saying you don't like the fast guitar playing

Thanks for recommending this! I seriously don't care for growling, but the music is strong enough for me to overlook it.

I saw them open for dream theater in vancouver a few months ago

when the lead singer actually sang, his vocals were good .

then the cookie monster came out and i went to the bar for a JD double shot.

I met the drummer in a pub after the show, he said he had been touring for about a year and a half.

    he looked very beat.

    musically good ,,vocals bad

I just need to reply to this aswell ;-).
Watershed is a great album, when I first heard Opeth (some Damnation songs and some other album songs) I only liked the songs of the Damnation album.
Now, I like every song.. the growling wasn't my thing aswell but you just need to learn listening to it and you'll be rewarded because the songs are awesome, both musically and lyrical.
    Try it!
