BP has recommended Ted Greene's "Chord Chemistry" in the past. I picked up a copy on his recommendation and it is a great study in harmony.

Eric Johnson also recommends that book. Although you need Duracell's in your flashlight when reading it...

The Morse videos are cool, and I reccomend them for sure.

The Gilbert stuff is VERY good for what it is....but it gives you very little beyond scale and picking patterns. If you already have the petrucci books, there's not much more you'll get from them. I do reccomend getting the Rock Discipline DVD as well though...if you don't already have it.

The Ted Greene book already mentioned is great. He's got another book that I highly reccomend too...the title is "modern chord progressions" (i think...my copy isn't handy right now).

Guthrie Govan's Creative Guitar Books 1&2 are incredible. Possibly the best instructional books I've ever gotten. Book 1 is just basic stuff and didn't offer me much personally, but I wish I had gotten it back when I was still just learning that material. Book 2 is solid gold. It's mostly technique-oriented stuff, but the quality and quantity of what is covered is amazing. Lots of stuff on chords/voicings, improv, and even emulating other instruments. Also, don't confuse "technique" with "chop-building".....the latter of the two generally refers to a collection of arbitrary scale/fingering patterns that are generally vastly inferior to exercises you could come up with yourself in a matter of minutes.

Frank Gambale's Technique Books 1 and 2 are also really good. I don' t like that backing tracks aren't included, but they are good nonetheless.

If you're into classical/fingerstyle guitar at all....NO book beats Scott Tenant's "pumping nylon".

Lastly...if you use torrents or P2P programs at all....see if you can't find a zip file that's widely available of the entire Gutiar Gym series by Shaun Baxter that ran in Guitar Techniques magazine a while back. It has all 22(?) articles in it, almost all of which are great.

Speaking of which....start buying Guitar Techniques Magazine. A subscription to this magazine could replace almost anything in anyones instructional library.

    Quick question

I have seen the Rock Discipline DVD on several sites. The prices are different in every site. I wanted to know if there's a possible difference or could it be just the companies price?

Also, does it only come with a DVD?

    Thanks in advance

I don't know of any alternate version/edition of it. It comes with the dvd and a small booklet with the material in it (NOTE: I think the actual book does have some stuff that's not in the booklet that comes with the dvd....or vice versa...or both...it's been a while). As for price difference...probably just a difference between different stores. As I said before, there's only one version/edition of it so you're getting the same thing at either place.
