This band peaked at Mindcrime and then tanked on Empire.

I liked "Empire" actually. I though "Mindcrime" was OK. Then again, I like my progressive metal to be a little more accessible!

BTW, Operation:Mindcrime is one of my top 25 CDs of all time. They have some good songs on all of their albums, but listening to most Queensryche CDs from start to finish is too laborious.

Mindcrime is incredible

The wife and I just got our tickets to go see them in Salt Lake City in April.

Turns out Parker Lundgren snagged the guitar spot vacated by Mike Stone. Parker has been dating Geoff's daughter for a while and we met him during the recent Geoff Tate solo tour. Parker is a fabulous guitarist with plenty of fire. This might be like Steve Morse playing with Deep Purple. Could be a good thing.

The only folks on the new album are just the core band members. No Mike Stone on this one. Parker just started the tour with them. What I've heard of the album so far is okay but it ain't no Mindcrime.

Parker is the one without the hat.

Mindcrime was and still is a great album. Empire was good. After that not so much. I will check out the new album to see if it is worth the $$$ to me. I still go to their shows when they are in the area though...great live band.
