Great set as well. They played heavier stuff in NJ than they did in CT 2 days prior. And the dargie didn't make an appearance tonight either.

Thanks for the pics! I'm guessing the DD2 is JP's backup guitar for standard tuning based on reports I've read here. I think someone wrote that JP and his tech had a discussion about using the DD2 vs. the tobacco burst for a song, and he took the tobacco instead of the DD2 for a particular song.

i was actually using the stage as an armrest. best seats i've ever had in my life. He didn't use the DD2. I meant to ask him about it at the meet and greet, but I forgot.

    Dream Theater 8-7-09 AND 8-9-09

Wow, another great performance. Mike Portnoy came out during Zappa Plays Zappa and told a story about him camping overnight at the Beacon to get Frank Zappa tickets and then sang Bobby Brown

Then during DT's encore, Dweezil came out and traded off solos with Petrucci and Rudess. It was great.

And from the "it's a small world" file, fellow knucklehead "Richb" happpened to sit right next to me right before DT went on. I recognized him from his youtube clips of his KOA and one of a kind Silverburst JP's. Actually 2 of a kind, JP has the other one, and played it last night as well.

Man if I saw them 3 times in one week I would probably lock myself in my room with a guitar, 2 cases of slinky strings, a dozen picks, one metronome, and then not come out for a month! I always get inspired to woodshed after going to their concerts.

Where's RichB been lately? I know he was hoping to come up to CT for the event last week.

WOW! 3 times in one week! That's awesome!

As for the DD2, he used it during Constant Motion when I saw them in Ashville, NC on July, 29th. That was the only song he used it on though. It looked fantastic with all the lights hitting it!!

Damn Scott, you're like the 6th member of DT in that photo! Me and Rich were at that Beacon show. Killer set they played. I was hoping to see the Dargie though.
