    Making a flight case.

I'd like to make a flight case but get confused over the different aluminium extrusions.

I don't want to use ply wood but the "pucker" stuff they use for flight cases.

I'd like to start off and make one for my Marshall then maybe make one for my balls

    So two things:-

    1) Does anybody know of a book/instructions, that show you how to make a flight case?
    2) Anybody recommend a good supplier of all the hardware in the UK ?

    Cheers

buy them premade but not assembled.. all you need is a rivet "machine"

anyhow.. cases are dead cheap over there compared to here in scandinavia!
so why not just buy one premade.. material and tool costs might exceed the cost of actually buying the real deal

    MrM

Ps: astraboard is a plywood replacement that works well in flightcases. i think adam hall stocks it
just put flats on the bongo!!
just put roundwounds on your fretless!!

    eb customer support:
    E-mail: musicman_customerservice@ernieball.com
    Telephone: +1 866-823-2255

    trussrod adjustment:
less relief / flatter = lower action
more relief / bow = higher action
do NOT use cheap tools to adjust with. they might break and scrape up your pressious!
also, if you are lucky enough to have a 100th namm sr4: the truss works the other way around on that one!

    Buy one....

Failing that, you could have a look at CPC (might be CPC Farnell, it's a part of that group) RS components may well have them, but will be expensive. Studiospares might be worth a shot as well.

But seriously, buy one, you'll probably spend just as much on parts....

    Spud,
I don't have any experience in building (plenty in buying) but I saw Penn Elcom has a UK distributor. Penn Elcom
I also saw this, but it might be "too good to be true," who knows? Do-It-Yourself Road Cases®

I use Hardigg Rackmount Cases although it's overkill for my needs as there intended for military environments, we use loads in work for test equipment and transportation etc and once I've finished testing them, they classed as scrap/lifed .

If it's a standard case, I'd recommend buy them off the shelf from Flight Cases as I know others who have used them and they look good quality for the price. For spare parts etc Adam Hall are probably the best bet in the UK

I have been in touch with the UK link in catdaddys post and am looking to price up the components, now that they have sent me a price list. I bleeb that I can build one for a fraction of the £204 that flightcase warehouse want.

Been mulling this over and I'm sure that there are some sheets of aluminium in work that came off the bottom off doors to protect them from being bashed about by filing trolleys. I t would be neat to make the case out of ali and machine finish it with swirls like the old custom cars.

So I'll price up the bits n bobs and let ya know what it comes in at.

I had to choose a "concentration" in my history major and take however many courses in that particular area. Mine was British History. That was thirty years ago.

    Hey Spud

I've very successfully used these guys in the past.

DJ Equipment, Stage Lighting, Disco & Stage Equipment- At Great Prices

Wide range of all of the bits and pieces you need to make cases etc, including that sticky backed carpet type stuff that you can cover cabs with that I find particularly pleasing!

    http://www.terralec.co.uk/covering_a...g/17629_p.html

They do plastic corners and edge strips that are good for weight saving if you don't really need full-on flight case protection.
