    Smoke and musical instruments....

I noticed that many times when you read through a FS thread sellers seem to make a big deal about how instruments have been kept in a smoke free environment...

I don't smoke but I was just curious how is this important for an instruments condition. Does it get in the wood and messes it up or something???

smoke gets into everything, I gigged for 9 years in smokey rooms and it was disgusting. Eventually my guitar stopped smelling like cigarettes years later though. But all my PA gear got sold off. The desk had yellow knobs. Ironically a few years after I stopped gigging smoking was banned in the clubs

I mean, what else are you going to say after, ". . . . .yeah, it's pretty much in mint condition".

. . . .smoke free room with an air filtering system......
.....kept in a my bedroom (versus the living room).....
.....stored in a home with elderly parents who were both blind. . . . .
......never played it on more than 6 on an amp which wasn't plugged in. . .
...... speed limit on our street is max 25 mph......
